Zeekr Is Preparing a Right-Hand-Drive 7GT: The Electric Shooting Brake Could Reach Australia by the End of 2026

The premium 2026 Zeekr 7GT electric car, in a shooting brake body style unusual for the segment, has unexpectedly moved closer to left-hand-traffic markets. The reason was confirmation that the company is preparing production versions with right-hand drive, as well as the fact that the model will be available in Europe. Although exact timing for Australia has not yet been officially announced, the very appearance of a right-hand-drive version significantly increases the chances of seeing the 7GT on local roads as part of the brand’s global expansion.

In Europe, the new model is planned to be sold at a price equivalent to less than 75,000 Australian dollars. Against this backdrop, the 7GT could prove better value than a number of well-known luxury electric rivals, while offering very strong specifications. The Zeekr brand is part of Geely Automotive Group and largely draws on a shared engineering school with Volvo and Polestar, which is clearly reflected in the technology.

The car is built on a new-generation platform and features an 800-volt architecture. It is designed for ultra-fast charging and high output. Buyers will be offered batteries with capacities from 75 to 100 kWh, and the maximum DC charging power is stated at 450 kW. With a suitable station, charging from 10 to 80% takes about 13 minutes, placing the model among the fastest-charging EVs.

Two main powertrain configurations are предусмотрены. The base version for overseas markets will be rear-wheel drive with a single electric motor at around 310 kW. The flagship will get two motors and all-wheel drive, with total output reaching 475 kW. In this specification, acceleration to 100 km/h takes about 3.3 seconds, and top speed is around 210 km/h.

The interior is executed in a restrained “European” vein: the emphasis is on quality and ergonomics rather than flashy tricks. It features a 13-inch digital instrument cluster and a large central touchscreen. The seating position and layout are driver-oriented thanks to a high center console, while physical controls on the steering wheel and front panel are retained.

The shooting brake body is a separate argument: it is aimed at those who need practicality without moving to an SUV, and at the same time it sets the 7GT apart from Zeekr’s sedans and crossovers. Given the confirmed right-hand drive and the presence in Australia of several brands linked to Geely, the industry expects the Zeekr 7GT could reach the market closer to the end of 2026. Separately, we remind you that in 2025 Zeekr released the mid-size electric crossover 7X, which by the end of the year had collected about 2,000 pre-orders (source: whichcar.com.au).
