Chinese company Xpeng is preparing to launch the updated P7+ sedan for the 2026 model year, which will be another step in its “dual powertrain” strategy. The manufacturer intends to offer the car in two formats at once: as a classic battery electric vehicle (BEV) and in an extended-range EREV version. At the same time, the brand is betting on exports: it has been stated that the new model will be global and will appear in 36 countries at once.

The current P7+ debuted on November 7, 2024, with a starting price of 186,800 yuan ($26,640), which looks competitive for “smart” mid- and full-size electric sedans. But, as often happens in the Chinese market, after a bright start demand began to cool. Thus, in November deliveries amounted to 4,870 cars, and this is one of the weakest monthly results this year, according to CnEVPost. That is why Xpeng expects to rekindle interest in the model through the EREV version and an expanded sales geography.
Company head He Xiaopeng emphasizes that the P7+ for 2026 is built to unified global production and safety standards. According to the brand, the car incorporates 104 improvements, and 36 percent of key components and assemblies have been updated. The EREV variant should offer a combined range of up to 1,550 km, while the BEV version will be able to travel up to 725 km.
Recall that in its early years Xpeng produced only “pure” electric vehicles. The shift toward EREV was formalized at Tech Day in November 2024, when it unveiled the Kunpeng Super Electric System. The first model with a choice between BEV and EREV was the extended-length X9 minivan, shown on November 20 this year. In addition, Xpeng has already filed applications for EREV modifications of the G6 and G7 crossovers; they are expected in 2026 (photo: Xpeng).
Overall, the company delivered 36,728 vehicles in November: 18.88% more than a year earlier, but 12.58% less than in October. At the same time, the P7+ held third place in sales within the lineup, although it slipped 12.54% versus October, accounting for 13.26% of Xpeng’s November volume (source: cnevpost.com).
