26 December, the IT House outlet reported on new features of the Xiaomi Watch 5 that the company has adapted for its own cars. The functions were presented by Zhang Lei, who at Xiaomi Group is responsible for the smartphone business and at the same time heads the wearables division.

One of the key options is related to vehicle access. An NFC key can be “linked” to the watch via a Xiaomi smartphone, after which the door can be opened and the engine started with a simple tap of the watch. This setup is stated for the Xiaomi SU7 family, including the SU7 Ultra.
The second important part is controlling the car’s systems from the wrist. When using a Xiaomi phone and connecting to the onboard network, the owner or passenger, via the watch fusion equipment center, will be able to adjust the climate control, seat settings, music, and other parameters. Support is indicated for the Xiaomi YU7, SU7, and SU7 Ultra.
An in-car app from Xiaomi has also appeared on the watch. It allows you to start and unlock the vehicle, turn on light signals, the horn, control the trunk, ventilation, and air conditioning. These functions are stated for the YU7, SU7, and SU7 Ultra. It is separately noted that for the YU7, a car-app mode is available on the watch, tied to Bluetooth and the NFC key.
For trips, vibration navigation prompts are provided: the watch reminds you about turns and even about the moment when a red traffic light is about to change to green. There is also a “sleepy” scenario: if you doze off in the car, the watch simultaneously turns on Sleep mode and Do Not Disturb, and before the end of the rest it wakes you in advance with vibration. Finally, in the SU7 Ultra in Boost mode, the central screen can display the heart rate of the owner and passengers in real time, and via the fusion center on the head unit you can view the watch’s battery level and data from other connected devices (source: ithome.com).
