SAIC GM Wuling Announces Sales Launch Timing for the Starlight 560: The Model Will Get an ICE, Hybrid, and Electric Version

On December 23, an official representative of SAIC GM Wuling confirmed that the new 2026 Starlight 560 crossover from the Starlight family will arrive at dealerships as early as January next year. Ahead of the sales launch, the model has already been made available for pre-order—four versions have been announced. The pre-order price range is 63,800–102,800 yuan, and the promotional price range is 59,800–98,800 yuan. At the same time, the manufacturer is immediately betting on a wide choice of powertrains: buyers will be offered a gasoline version, a plug-in hybrid, and a fully electric modification.

The exterior of the new model is executed in the brand’s current design language. Up front there is a “frameless” grille visually integrated with the lighting units, with a silver Wuling logo placed in the center. Inside the grille, a “honeycomb” pattern is used, adding sporty notes to the vehicle. The lower part of the bumper is complemented by a gunmetal-gray chrome trim piece that serves as scratch protection and emphasizes the off-road character.

From the side, the Starlight 560 stands out with a “floating” roof and black roof rails. Sculpted stampings around the front and rear wheel arches create a sense of layering. The rear, by contrast, is styled more traditionally: straight rear lights, a lower protective element in the same gunmetal-gray shade, and a large roof spoiler—all of this matches the model’s positioning.

The interior is designed in a three-dimensional style. Equipment includes a fully digital instrument cluster and a 12.8-inch “floating” central screen. The multimedia system runs on Ling OS and supports HiCar, CarLink, DLNA, and other smartphone connectivity options. Two color schemes are offered for the trim—or walnut-brown and warm sand-brown. The manufacturer separately emphasizes the width of the rear bench: 1,463 mm, which should have a positive effect on second-row passenger comfort.

In terms of hardware, the gasoline version received a 1.5-liter turbo engine with direct injection: 130 kW and 290 N·m. The transmissions are a 6-speed manual or a CVT. WLTC fuel consumption is stated at 6.99 L/100 km for the manual and 7.58 L/100 km for the CVT. The plug-in hybrid is equipped with the Lingyu Power 3.0 system: the engine’s thermal efficiency reaches 43.2%, and the electric drive is a 4th-generation “10-in-1” hybrid module. Electric-only range under CLTC is 125 km, total range under WLTC is 1,100 km, and fuel consumption with a depleted battery is 5.3 L/100 km. The EV version is fitted with a 100 kW motor and a 60 kWh Shenlian battery: 500 km under CLTC and 13.6 kWh/100 km. 2C charging is supported—from 30% to 80% in 20 minutes, and you can “add” 200 km of range in 15 minutes. It is also noted that the Starlight 560 is built on an original chassis, and all versions come standard with independent suspension front and rear (source: autohome.com.cn).
