NIO Expands Its Energy Swap Network: NIO Power Added 25 Stations and Will Deploy 8,000 New Batteries by January

NIO Automobile has announced an expansion of its energy swap infrastructure. According to the company, between December 22 and 28, the NIO Power division added 25 new stations along routes. Overall, NIO Energy has already deployed 3,654 battery swap/backup power stations, with 2,302 sites nationwide currently supporting battery swapping for NIO.

A separate milestone was noted in Anhui Province. On December 18, NIO Energy and Zhongan Energy announced the launch of the first phase of 50 charging and switching stations that the companies built jointly. NIO emphasizes that this is a significant step in the development of the strategic partnership and an important milestone for “opening up” NIO’s energy ecosystem and expanding cooperation.

Another focus is on the battery pool. On December 5, NIO unveiled a nationwide plan to double the number of batteries at stations and announced investments in more than 8,000 new batteries for its battery swap network. The company expects to complete this stage of construction by mid-January next year. It is expected that the number of NIO batteries in the national network will then exceed the original plan by more than twofold, which will help cover peak demand during the Spring Festival period and make energy replenishment easier amid the continued growth of the user base. Additional investments in batteries began in November, and to date more than 800 units have already been produced (source: news.yiche.com).
