Leapmotor Unveiled the D19 Flagship Electric Crossover with a Range of up to 1,300 km: Official Photos

Chinese manufacturers continue to pick up the pace, and competition in the “green” segment is getting ever tougher. Against this backdrop, the Leapmotor brand has unveiled its new flagship model for the home market — the D19 2026 electric crossover. The manufacturer is not hiding its ambitions: the new model is meant to strengthen its position in Asia and, over time, make its way to Europe.

Interest in the D19 had been building earlier as well. A few days ago, it became known that Leapmotor had signed a major contract with one of Europe’s leading suppliers in the field of automatic transmissions — though it concerned a different component. Now the company has confirmed: the extended-range version will use a generator “range extender,” turning the crossover into a car for long-distance travel.

The D19’s appearance follows the overall styling of the lineup, but with noticeable individuality. The main headlights are pushed out to the edges of the bumper, and a thin light strip of daytime running lights with segmented LED elements runs along the upper edge of the front end. The door handles are flush, and the two-tone paint clearly nods to premium solutions in the spirit of Maybach. The wheels and the chrome window trim create a similar impression: it visually “blends” with the upper part of the body and flows into the rear pillar. At the rear, the lighting theme continues with thin lines crossing the tailgate.

The dimensions are imposing: length is just over 5.2 meters, and the wheelbase is at least 3.1 meters. In size, the D19 is comparable to the BMW X7, but with a different pricing philosophy. The cabin is designed for 5, 6, or 7 people, and instead of conventional benches it offers separate “captain’s” chairs with wide-ranging power adjustments.

The interior is executed according to a proven premium formula: a minimum of physical buttons and a maximum of screens. The equipment includes a 10.25-inch digital instrument cluster, a 17.3-inch central multimedia display, and a separate 6-inch climate-control panel. Optional features include a head-up display and a large 21.4-inch ceiling-mounted screen for rear passengers — almost like a “cinema” in luxury sedans. Also claimed are two wireless chargers, an audio system with a speaker in the driver’s headrest, air fragrancing, folding tables, and a small 8-liter refrigerator.

Technically, the D19 will be offered in two versions. The fully electric version is equipped with two motors with a combined output of 540 kW (724 hp) and a battery of at least 115 kWh. Range on the CLTC cycle is up to 720 km, which in European conditions is equivalent to about 504 km. The range-extender alternative retains two electric motors, but output is reduced to 400 kW (544 hp) and battery capacity to 80.3 kWh: the “pure” range is stated at 500 km on CLTC (about 350 km by European logic), while total range with the generator is estimated at around 1,300 km. Fast charging allows the battery to be replenished from 30% to 80% in 15 minutes.

In the Chinese market, the D19 is planned to be sold for about 40,000 euros (around 4 million rubles), with the launch scheduled for the first half of 2026. The timing of a European release has not yet been confirmed, but 2027 is cited as the target (source: motor.es).
