The joint project between Dongfeng Motor and Huawei, which until recently appeared under the working name “Project DH,” is gradually moving from the development stage into the pre-production phase. Representatives of the new Yijing brand reported that the first prototype—made as close as possible to the future “production” version—has already been assembled and has moved on to the next stage: expanded quality inspection. Essentially, this is a direct hint at preparations for mass production, which is expected to start next year.

Yijing’s debut model will be a full-size crossover. The manufacturer has tied its public premiere to the 2026 Beijing Auto Show. At the same time, the new model is planned to be brought to market in the third quarter of next year. Buyers are promised two powertrain formats at once: a fully electric BEV version and an EREV version—an electric vehicle with an extended driving range.
Testing of the model continues: the next major outing is scheduled for winter tests in Mohe (Heilongjiang Province) in northeastern China, where equipment is traditionally tested in harsh conditions.
Recall that on November 20, Dongfeng officially announced the name of the new brand at the Huawei Qiankun ecosystem conference and confirmed the premiere timeframe for April 2026. Yijing’s plans include releasing at least one new model every year, gradually covering several segments and vehicle types.
In parallel, Huawei is developing a similar partnership scheme with GAC Group as well: a brand called Qijing is being created there, which has already stated that it will start with a shooting-brake-style coupe. The first Qijing model is expected to be released in June 2026 and is currently undergoing joint tuning with the Huawei Qiankun team. Yijing and Qijing are a continuation of Huawei’s cooperation with automakers after the launch of five brands under HIMA (source: cnevpost.com).
