BYD Song Pro finished 2025 in Brazil on a very high note. In December, the crossover set a personal record, selling 3,867 units, and that is precisely what allowed it to become the month’s best-selling hybrid. Against the backdrop of this result, the company unveiled in China an updated Song Pro lineup for the 2026 model year, placing emphasis on range and comfort.

Song Pro is already being assembled in Camaçari, in the state of Bahia. The appearance of the Chinese new products can be seen as a hint at possible production of this model at the local plant. This will help keep the car competitive. Moreover, it is expected that Brazilian cars will receive an updated look, as well as the brand’s first plug-in hybrid flex, created specifically to meet the requirements of the local market.
The main technical change is related to the battery. For the 2026 version, a new “long-range” variant is announced with a Blade pack rated at 26.6 kWh. Under the CLTC cycle, this provides up to 220 km on pure electric power, whereas the current versions are rated at 133 km. If translated to Brazilian realities, where a 18.3 kWh battery and 68 km by Inmetro are currently used (about 90 km in real-world driving), the potential electric range could increase to roughly 140 km.
The DM-i system remains the foundation of the powertrain: a 1.5-liter turbo engine works in tandem with a 163 hp electric motor. Even with a depleted battery, consumption looks impressive—on average over 31 km per liter. In the cabin, options were added for those for whom not only economical driving matters: a refrigerator built into the center console appeared with cooling and heating modes, and in expensive versions the front seats come standard with ventilation and heating. Enhanced safety is also claimed thanks to a new stability system designed for high-speed tire blowout situations, and the “God’s Eye C” driver-assistance suite received more advanced sensors for more accurate operation of semi-autonomous functions (source: motor1.uol.com.br).
By the end of 2025, Song Pro became the second best-selling hybrid in Brazil—more than 22.5 thousand cars, trailing only the GWM Haval H6. Judging by the set of updates, BYD is aiming in 2026 to fight for first place, especially since local assembly makes it possible to implement changes fairly quickly.
