Avtostat Reported a Shortage of Mass-Market Cars in Russia: Basic Belgee, Geely, and Haval Models Have Become Hard to Find

The sales breakdown for week 49 (December 1–7, 2025) turned out to be telling: Lada remained the leader with a result of about 7.5 thousand cars. Among foreign brands, Haval is ahead (around 5.2 thousand), followed by Tenet (2.9 thousand). Belgee and Geely also cleared the two-thousand mark, posting 2.4 and 2.3 thousand units. The top ten additionally included Changan and Solaris (1.1 thousand each), Toyota (1 thousand), Jetour (887), and BMW (710).

Where it’s thin, it tears

Against the backdrop of these figures, the market has faced a shortage of cars in the “people’s” class. According to Avtostat, Avilon Automotive Group’s Retail Sales Director Ilya Petrov explains this by the fact that it is the base versions that sell out the fastest, which is why warehouses are being emptied. The premium segment is holding up more evenly for now, but with modest deliveries, the strain may show up as early as late January or in February.

Which models are harder to find

Among those described as in short supply are the Belgee S50 and X70, the GAC GS3 and GS4, the Geely Cityray, as well as the Monjaro and Atlas in front-wheel-drive versions. A shortage of the Haval Jolion with front drive wheels in entry-level trims is noted separately. In addition, it is not easy to find the Haval H3, Hongqi HS3, Jetour T2 and X70 Plus, as well as the Omoda S5. Earlier, record growth in the segment of used Chinese cars in Russia was also reported (photo: Belgee).
