Kaliningrad-based Avtotor continues to develop its own electric brand, Amberauto. According to available data, as early as 2026 the brand’s lineup will gain a new electric crossover, which is expected to expand the still modest range.

There are few details about the new model: journalists were only given the dimensions of the future SUV. Length will be 4,640 mm, width — 1,870 mm, height — 1,685 mm, and the wheelbase — 2,770 mm. However, even these figures were enough to identify the model’s “donor.”
As it turned out, the Russian crossover will be based on the Chinese JMEV Yichi 05S developed by the JMC group. This manufacturer is already familiar to the domestic market through other Amberauto projects, as well as Ambertruck commercial vehicles. It is expected that the differences of the localized version will be limited mainly to new badges.
The Yichi 05S itself is a very fresh model: in China it went on sale in October 2025. In its home market it costs from 97,800 to 127,800 yuan, which roughly corresponds to 1.12–1.46 million rubles at the current exchange rate. The electric crossover is positioned as a family car.
The exterior is done in the brand’s new styling: up front you can catch similarities with a number of XPeng EVs, while the rear partly resembles the Jetour Dashing. Inside there is light-colored trim and colored decorative inserts. A small screen is installed in front of the driver, and next to it is a four-spoke multifunction steering wheel. The central display is responsible for almost all functions, so there are practically no physical buttons on the front panel. The tunnel provides a drive-mode rotary dial, several keys, a wireless charging pad, cupholders, and an armrest with a storage box.
Even the base version includes ABS, ESP, traction control, and tire-pressure monitoring. The options list includes auto-parking, hill-start assist, cruise control, navigation, keyless entry, central locking, climate control, power windows, and battery preheating for winter.
Technically, the crossover offers no choice of motor: a single electric motor with 224 hp and 210 N*m. Acceleration to 100 km/h takes 8.9 seconds, top speed is 170 km/h, and curb weight ranges from 1,700 to 1,785 kg. There are two batteries: 56.31 or 70.38 kWh, with a range of 500 to 610 km on a single charge (photo: JMC).
At present, Amberauto is represented by a single electric sedan, the A5 — a rebadged JMEV Yi, which failed to catch on in Europe (where it was marketed under the Mobilize brand owned by Renault) but feels more confident in Russia. In November alone, 404 such cars were sold, which brought the model to the top among new electric vehicles, and over 11 months 1,071 units were sold.
In the future, the brand may also get other new models: the compact electric hatchback A3 (a rebadged JMEV EV3), as well as the L7 electric quadricycle — already Avtotor’s own development together with Moscow Polytech.
